IPDR @ Google :: Strategic use of patents and other IP
At the workshop Strategic use of patents and other IP co-hosted by Google, the participants discussed issues related to standard-essential patents and the strategic use of IP in general. The workshop session was opend by Professor Dr. Josef Drexl, LL.M. (Berkeley), Managing Director of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. He presentend the research work of his institute in the field of standardization. Dr. Ralf Uhrich (counsel at Google) and Andrew Trask (counsel at Google) presented their take on recent developments and case law on the use and enforcement of patents. Christian Loyau (ETSI) talked about the European Telecommunications Standards Institute´s IPR Policy. A panel discussion, moderated by Professor Dr. Peter Picht ensued.
